MARTA Station-Bridge Closure

Update posted below: 12-4-18

Thank you for your note. MARTA is committed to listening and working with all the communities we serve. Here is a status update on some of the issues raised at the IPNA meeting.

 ·       We are studying the shuttle to Candler Park and/or King Memorial. The shuttle service will begin on Monday to the South side of Inman/Park Reynoldstown but will be adjusted if trip times warrant and resources can be secured.

·       The MARTA on the Go App will be updated to include the service alert.

·       We are coordinating with the contractor to provide advance notice of times we expect to be especially noisy.

·       The sandwich board signs at the station will be supplemented by staff people with the attached flier at the station the first few days of the closure.

·       The Inman Park/Reynoldstown Station web page will be the best place to find information as the project moves forward. It has the initial shuttle schedule, renderings of the project and answers to other FAQs. Of course, we will continue to reach out with updates, welcome your feedback as the project continues.

The North Pedestrian Bridge at Inman Park/Reynoldstown Station will be closed for renovations until Spring 2019. Beginning December 3, there will be no pedestrian access to the station from the North/DeKalb Ave. entrance, and a shuttle service will be in place to connect customers to the South/Seaboard Ave. station entrance.

Ø The North Pedestrian Bridge will be under construction until Spring 2019.

Ø The parking lot and station entrance on the North/DeKalb Avenue side with be closed during the renovation period and bus loop access will remain.

Ø A shuttle service will be available to connect customers to the South/Seaboard Avenue entrance.

Ø The shuttle will stop in the bus loop on the north end and connect to the south end bus loop.

Ø The shuttle will begin at 5:00 am until the end of revenue service.

Ø The south bus loop will remain open to customers during the renovation process.

Ø Route 6 will be detoured to the South/Reynoldstown bus loop.

Ø Additional MARTA parking will be available at the South/Seaboard Ave. lot and at King Memorial Station off Grant St. [Location]

Ø The Zipcars will be removed from the station during construction.

Ø Following the completion of the North Pedestrian Bridge, MARTA will then begin renovating the South Bridge.

So much for parking being available at the King Memorial Station off Grant St. Since the closure at Inman, I’ve been parking at King Memorial and riding from there, and today there was a sign in the lot that said it will be closed after December 14. I called MARTA and was told that they don’t know what their future plans for the King Memorial lot are and that people should park at Candler or the Inman south side. Good luck finding a spot in either of those lots after 8am! I wish the MARTA rep had mentioned this at last week’s IPNA meeting. Did anyone snag his card? I didn’t think I’d need it . . . .

We should talk to MARTA about the timing of these types of information dumps. They should involve neighborhoods long before the construction start date. Our neighbor comments were good, but way too late to have any impact.
